Copy Cat Festival

Case and I were thinking about getting serious with Ferocious Friends when an email appeared in my account.  It was a call for submissions for the CopyCat Festival in Somerville, MA. The organizers were inspired by the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, MN who hosted an internet cat festival and were overwhelmed by 10,000 attendees.  The Somerville Arts Council wanted to imitate the event and we wanted to be a part of it!  We worked intensely for 5 weeks to develop Ferocious Friends, we also made a video for submission to the CopyCat Festival.  The organizers accepted our video, a picture, and our application to be a vendor.

The festival was Sunday, February 17 at the Arts at the Armory in Somerville.  There were two sold out sessions, from 12-3 pm and 4-7 pm.  The house was full despite a blistery snow storm outside.  We were so impressed with everyone who organized and worked the event – it ran really smoothly and attendees seemed quite happy.  We were entertained with local and global cat videos, a local cat slideshow, storytelling, costume contest and hundreds of really sweet, funny cat lovers.  We had such a blast meeting the attendees and trading cat stories.  We got excellent feedback about our cat toy and experienced the thrill of watching our video on the big screen.

Now the festival excitement is over, we can focus on officially launching the website.  We just published our festival video, Smoke the Cat vs. the Ferocious Friends Mouser, on YouTube and we expect to launch the website this week.  We’ve already started interacting with customers on our Facebook page and we can’t wait to see more photographs and get more feedback!  If you bought a Mouser at the CopyCat Festival, please send us your pictures, stories, videos … you can even post them directly on our Facebook wall.  We’d love to hear from you and meet your ferocious friend.

Thanks again to the organizers and volunteers of the Copy Cat Festival, you all did a fantastic job.
